Neighborhood Foods CSA Accepting Members!

In Markets, Partnerships on February 15, 2012 at 8:00 pm

Urban Tree Connection is partnering with the Enterprise Center CDC to introduce a 22-week CSA, or community-supported agriculture program, and you can be a member!  Members of the Neighborhood Foods CSA will receive weekly shares of vegetables from West Philadelphia gardens and fruit from farms in the greater Philadelphia area. The 22-week CSA runs from mid-May to October, and offers add-on options of locally-produced seasonal jam, local honey, and bread from Four Worlds Bakery.  Pickup locations are Fridays and Saturdays at Rittenhouse Square, Four Worlds Bakery at 47th & Woodland Streets, Walnut Hill Community Farm at 46th & Markets Streets, and in Narberth.

Purchasing a share is more then buying a product, it is an investment into local business and local communities.  All profits from our CSA are re-invested into the Haddington and Walnut Hill neighborhoods where the produce is grown, supporting urban employment and youth leadership development.

Check out our heirloom Tomatoes at Green Aisle, an awesome market down on Passyunk. They are very supportive of our farm and are doing awesome things to support the local foods movement.

Roost

In Partnerships on July 29, 2011 at 6:43 pm

This summer, Neighborhood Foods has been fortunate enough to enjoy an exciting partnership with Roost, a local organic take-out restaurant in West Philadelphia!  We have been regularly selling them collards, kale, basil, and tomatoes; and Jordan, the chef, has been flexible enough to buy surplus of many of our other crops and put them in specials or new menu items.  The southern-cooked collards with ham are especially delicious!

Roost is located on Springfield Ave between 45th and 46th Streets in West Philadelphia.

Open 4-9PM everyday except Tuesdays.
