Beautiful Summer Saturday

Karen, UTC summer intern, and Joann, dedicated neighborhood gardener and volunteer working the farmstand while T does face paint in the background. It was a gorgeous day out, with lots of neighborhood help and plenty of collards, tomatoes, and cucumbers for sale! Stop by next Saturday between 10 and 2 for lots more vendors and food!

This summer, Neighborhood Foods has been fortunate enough to enjoy an exciting partnership with Roost, a local organic take-out restaurant in West Philadelphia!  We have been regularly selling them collards, kale, basil, and tomatoes; and Jordan, the chef, has been flexible enough to buy surplus of many of our other crops and put them in specials or new menu items.  The southern-cooked collards with ham are especially delicious!

Roost is located on Springfield Ave between 45th and 46th Streets in West Philadelphia.

Open 4-9PM everyday except Tuesdays.

Summer’s Bounty

The heat and sun of the summer plus the downpour we had last Friday was great for the farm- and you could see the results at our farmstand at Rittenhouse on Saturday.  Pictured here, from left: Dave (Bridging the Gaps intern from Jefferson Medical School), Rohan (one of our farmers, his head just peeking out above the onions), and Shamara of the CSA founder’s group.
